Dear Dr. Burciaga

An Interactive Employment Column

by Tom Burciaga

Question:
I've been at this for months. I understand if I come out of an interview and didn't get the job, there are a number of possible reasons, but I haven't had any interviews!!! Someone said I should follow up with phone calls to see if my resume has been received. Many of these companies do not list the firm name. So are they dead ends? Any suggestions??

Nessa

Answer:
It always pays to follow up with the person that you interviewed with at the company. If they send you a letter stating someone else filled the slot. Do not expect the company to explain their decision, they do not.

Call the interviewer, if you have recieved no answer, then just ask why they have picked another...just to test them. Don't push, but explain that you want to improve your interviewing skills, because they chose your resume based upon the hard skills appearing in your resume. See what happens?? let me know, ok?
